If you want to learn no-gi jiu-jitsu, you might consider purchasing a 10th Planet Instructional. However, there are many 10th Planet Instructionals and instructors to choose from it can be difficult to know which is the best 10th Planet instructional to choose.
Of course, the creator of the 10th Planet system is Eddie Bravo. Unfortunately, he only has one instructional on BJJ Fanatics right now. That is, of course, the Ultimate Rubber Guard. You can read my full review of it here.
That said, there are a good number of 10th Planet instructionals from other 10th Planet instructors and competitors. I will quickly list them here and go into more detail about each of these 10th Planet instructionals later in this article.

Best 10th Planet Instructional For The Rubber Guard
If there is a technique that is synonymous with 10th Planet jiu-jitsu it’s the rubber guard. Though I do not think the rubber guard is for everyone it can be a very effective guard. So if you are interested in a 10th planet instructional on the rubber guard why not learn from the creator of the rubber guard himself?
The best 10th planet rubber guard instructional is The Ultimate Rubber Guard by Eddie Bravo. Not only is Eddie the inventor of the rubber guard, but he is also the creator of the 10th Planet system. Without Eddie, we would not have 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu.
In the Ultimate Rubber Guard Eddie will teach you:
- Origin of Combat Jiu-Jitsu
- History of Jiu-Jitsu in MMA
- Gi vs No Gi Debate
- Origin of Rubber Guard
- Rubber Guard to Omoplata
- Evolution of the Rubber Guard
- Full Rubber Guard
- Bottom Half
- Rubber Guard Variations
Rubber Guard: The Meathook By Brandon McCaghren
Another great 10th Planet instructional on the rubber guard is Rubber Guard: The Meathook by Brandon McCaghren. In fact, some would argue that it is better than Eddie Bravo’s rubber guard instructional. Either way, both are great and if you really want to master the rubber guard you might consider both.
One thing for sure is that you are going to learn a little bit less about the rubber guard history and spend more time on techniques. The most helpful thing I have learned from Brandon McCaghren is his Meathook to the triangle choke.
Here is a sneak peek at the Meathook Triangle which is just one thing you will learn from this 10th Planet Instructional!
Rubber Guard: Concepts From Half Guard By Richie Martinez
One of the most popular 10th Planet athletes and coaches is Richie ”Boogeyman” Martinez. In this rubber guard instructional you will learn from the boogeyman himself the secrets to his rubber guard game.
Since he is hitting this position from half-guard it does not require as much flexibility. This is because you are lying on your side and not flat on your back. Richie will show you how to use the rubber guard with less flexibility or stress to your joints.
So if you are like me and have a hard time with rubber guard you might be able to pull it off with this 10th planet instructional. He covers a number of submissions, sweeps, and more that can revolutionize your bottom-half guard game.
Best 10th Planet Instructional On The Truck
If there was another thing 10th Planet was known for it would probably be the truck. On top of that if there was another competitor 10th Planet was known for it would be Geo Martinez. Geo Martinez is a second-degree 10th planet black belt under Eddie Bravo.
The Truck is a technique that has been adapted from wrestling in the 10th Planet system. Though it was used as a way to pin in wrestling, it is also extremely useful for taking your opponents back in jiu-jitsu. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest things 10th Planet has added to jiu-jitsu.
Not only can you use the truck to take the back but you can also use it for some nasty submissions. This would include calf slicers, crotch rippers, twisters, and more. So if you are not using the truck in you jiu-jitsu game this might be the 10th Planet instructional for you!
Best 10th Planet Instructional For Bottom Guard
If you are looking the best 10th Planet instructional on bottom guard that is not a rubber guard instructional the Guard Master by Geo Martinez is the way to go. In this instructional Geo shares his secrets to his world class no-gi guard game.
No Gi guards covered include:
- De La X Guard
- Geo’s Butter Half
- Reverse De La Riva
- Spiral guard and more
From these positions Geo will show you how to use bottom guard to sweep, take your opponents back, and of course submit them. What I love most about this instructional is the you do not need as much flexibility to play these gaurds.
The Boogeyman Darce By Richie Martinez
Alright not it is time to talk about my favorite submission of all time. That is of course, the Darce choke. Though it is a common submission I feel it is one that is often neglected more than it should be. This is especially true for tall linky grapplers who are built for Darce chokes.
Though this 10th Planet instructional is mostly about the Darce choke, he also covers other similar chokes such as the Marce, Japanese necktie, and the puruvian necktie. This instructional will help you tighten up these chokes and turn them into high percentage submissions.
Learn to attack the Darce when passing, escaping, seated, and more from the Boogeyman himself. I recommend the Boogeyman Darce to everyone but especially people like me who are built to be good at the Darce choke.
10th Planet Top Game No Gi Back Takes By PJ Barch
If you think I forgot about PJ Barch don’t you worry. We can’t make a best 10th Planet instructional list without talking about PJ Barch’s 10th Planet Top Game No Gi Back Takes.
This 10th planet instuctional starts with PJ’s Modern no-gi passing techniques that help to expose the back. Once you are done with the instructional you will see back takes from everywhere.
So if you have been having trouble passing the guard or taking the back in no-gi jiu-jitsu then you might wanna check out this instructional.
Best 10th Planet Warm Up Instructional
One thing I love about 10th planet over other schools is there 10th planet warm ups. I just think it makes way more sense to lightly drill techniques to warm up instead of mindlessly running around the mats and doing various warm up drills.
The 10th Planet warm ups are a great way to drill these techniques over and over and a great way to even learn the 10th Planet System. To me it just makes a lot of sense. You can even just find a partner and use these ”warm ups” as drills you can do over and over.
As someone who no longer goes to a 10th Planet academy I sure do miss this. I think all schools could learn something from having a technique bases warm up.
The best 10th Planet warm up instructional is Warming Up The 10th Planet Way. Just take a look at all of the techniques used in the warm ups featured in this instructional.
Now imagine doing these warm ups daily and how many reps of each technique you will practice over time.
Other Great No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Instructionals
